The project

Lumínico proposes a new way of listening to and presenting contemporary classical music. These are visual concerts, works linked to the image through a sound journey without interruptions, radically modifying the traditional format of concert music, where the works are presented without any separation, without pauses, without applause between them. In this sense, the project proposes an alternative form, a new ritual, a model closer to cinema, to a soundtrack that does not stop and allows the viewer to immerse much more deeply in a kind of hypnotic trance, sometimes disruptive, questioning, reflective, expressive and vital that is also loaded with referential-abstract and concrete content, in relation to an existential problem or of primary importance for the human being of the XXI century.

MAQUIN-ARIAS offers a unique vision of contemporary reality and the life of human beings related to machines, their paradoxes and contradictions through sound and visual metaphors that immerses the viewer in a singular artistic experience: Consciousness, perception, intuition and rationality, all of which are emotionally entwined in an introspective and personal show, unique to each viewer, which is constructed through high-level live performance and new sounds on the flute, plus the use of advanced audio and video technologies using images and sounds of machines and other realities derived from them. The repertoire comes from many sound and video sources that integrate a large visual corpus, which interacts with electronic and electroacoustic music, live improvisation, contemporary concert music, classical music and other world music, all in deferred format and in real time. Each concert integrates fragments of these pieces and sounds, intertwining them live as if it were a soundtrack, so Maquin-Arias avoids the conventional list of works and composers, to give way to a new format: it is a project that proposes original, innovative, propositive and integrating scenic and sound forms, according to the complexity and diversity of audiences in contemporary society. It has performed in multiple concerts in Mexico, Latin America, the United States, Canada, several Asian countries and Europe with great success.

The repertoire comes from many sound and video sources that integrate a numerous visual corpus, which interacts with electronic and electroacoustic music, live improvisation, contemporary concert music, classical music and other world music, all in deferred format and in real time. Each concert integrates fragments of these pieces and sounds, intertwining them live as if it were a soundtrack, so Lumínico avoids the conventional list of works and composers, to give way to a new format: It is a project that proposes original, innovative, propositive and integrating scenic and sound forms, in accordance with the complexity and diversity of contemporary society.The project is part of ONIX Ensamble, and has won the national performing arts award MEXICO EN ESCENA through the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (National Fund for Culture and the Arts). It has performed in multiple concerts in Mexico, Latin America, United States, Canada, several Asian countries and Europe with great success.
